This policy explains how Logu handles information. It is designed to align with common App Store expectations and privacy principles. For regulated use cases, seek professional advice.

1. Summary

• Most journal data you enter in Logu is stored on your device (for example using local app storage).
• HealthKit data is read only if you grant permission, and is used on-device to help you log steps and sleep.
• If you use Colorie, a meal photo you submit is sent to our server (Cloudflare Worker) and processed by OpenAI to return an estimate. We describe this flow in detail below.

2. Data we process

2.1 On-device journal data

Text notes, mood selections, photos you attach to entries, purchase notes, timestamps, and similar log fields are stored locally on your iPhone or iPad unless and until you delete them or remove the App.

2.2 HealthKit

If you authorize HealthKit access, the App may read the categories shown in Apple’s permission prompt (for example steps and sleep) to help populate your log. We do not sell HealthKit data. HealthKit data is not written to our servers by Logu as part of the features described in this policy.

2.3 Camera and photo library

The App requests access to the camera and photo library only to let you capture or choose images for your log and for Colorie meal analysis when you choose to use that feature.

2.4 Colorie (optional AI meal analysis)

When you tap the AI action for Colorie:

• The App sends a compressed image over HTTPS to our Cloudflare Worker endpoint.
• The Worker authenticates the request and forwards the image to OpenAI’s API to generate a structured estimate (for example calories and macronutrients).
• The Worker is designed to process the request without storing your image as a permanent user file on the Worker; logs may still be generated by infrastructure providers as part of normal operations.
• OpenAI processes inputs according to OpenAI’s policies, which may include temporary processing and safety logging as described in OpenAI’s documentation.
• Results are returned to your device; you may save estimates in your local journal.

3. Purposes and legal bases (EEA/UK framing)

Where GDPR-style legal bases apply: on-device journaling is typically necessary to perform the service you request. Colorie processing is based on your consent when you initiate an analysis. HealthKit processing is based on your explicit permission through Apple’s authorization UI.

4. Sharing with third parties

• Cloudflare hosts our Worker that receives Colorie requests.
• OpenAI receives meal images and related prompts only when you use Colorie.
• We do not sell your personal information. We do not use behavioral advertising SDKs in the App as shipped in this repository.

5. Retention

Journal content remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. Server-side components for Colorie are not intended to retain your meal images as a product feature; infrastructure providers may retain transient technical data under their own policies.

6. Security

We use HTTPS for Colorie traffic. Client requests to the Worker use an app-embedded shared secret for basic abuse resistance; this is not a substitute for user authentication and does not encrypt your data at rest on the device (Apple’s device security applies).

7. Your choices and rights

• You can revoke HealthKit access in the iOS Settings app.
• You can delete individual log entries in Logu or uninstall the App to remove locally stored data.
• Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold; contact us for requests relating to information we control.

8. Children

Logu is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). Do not use Colorie or HealthKit features for children in a way that violates Apple’s rules or local law.

9. International transfers

Colorie processing may involve servers located in the United States or other regions where Cloudflare or OpenAI operate. Such transfers are part of providing the feature you request.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be reflected in the App’s legal link where practical.
